U.S. Forces Armed With Uranium-rich ‘Bunker-Busters’ Bombs and Missiles?

March 11th, 2003 · No Comments

Weapons watchdogs claim U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf are armed with bombs and missiles made of radioactive material. The Pentagon has refused to identify the composition of the “Bunker-Busters” bombs and missiles.

British research Dai Williams cites that patents for the guided bomb unit, or GBU, series of laser-guided bunker-busters refers to penetrating bodies made of tungsten or depleted uranium.

“If they’re really using tungsten, why keep it classified?” Williams said.

It is estimated that U.S. forces during the Gulf War expended 300 tons of depleted-uranium weapons.

Depleted uranium is 40 percent as radioactive as pure uranium and has a half-life of 4.5 billion years. Pentagon and Veterans Administration insist that depleted uranium is absolutely harmless and is in no way responsible for any of the symptoms associated with so-called “Gulf War syndrome.”

An Army Armament, Munitions and Chemical Command report - issued shortly before Iraq invaded Kuwait - stated that depleted uranium is “linked to cancer when exposures are internal.
