General Nutrition Centers, the largest U.S. specialty retailer of nutritional supplements, said it would discontinue the sale of all products that include ephedra, a weight-loss chemical that has been linked to serious side effects.
“We believe that ephedra-based products are safe when used as directed,” said GNC President and Chief Executive Michael Meyers. “Nonetheless, the current business climate dictates that we move in a different direction.”
The American Heart Association in April urged for a ban on all ephedra products.
“There is no such thing as a magic weight loss pill and anyone who takes these products looking for a quick fix is misleading themselves,” said Dr. Robert Bonow, Heart Association president, at the time.

i have had great results from ephedra ripped fuel with no problems at all,the problems come from people who miss use the product.i am 38 years old my energy levels are not what they use to be and extra weight began to appear.after useing ripped fuel my energy levels started to sky rocket and weight loss came naturally.these pills changed my life.just taking 1 in the morning and 1 in mid afternoon was all i needed,i went from 150 ponds to 120 pounds in two months,weight loss was not really what i was needing from these pills,it was energy so i ended up getting the best of both worlds.even though i am saddened by the side effects it has caused others, i feel i have been punished by other peoples miss use now i am unable to purchase any product containing ephedra, i think retailers should still be able to sell the product only if they post warnings on labels about side effect and prohibit the sales to minors!

I tried everything to loose weight and Metabolife356 with ephedra finally did the trick. I managed to loose 38 pounds in 8 weeks. It always seems to me that as soon as “WE” the consumers, find something that actually works, there is a small majority of people who abuse the product which in turn backfires on the rest of us who actually use the products as directed. Why do “WE” have to suffer because some people can’t follow simple directions? Post warnings on lables and restrict the sale to minors, but for heavens sake, let us decide if we want to take the chance. It’s unfair to the rest of us, who praise and swear by these products to be cut off because of the stupidity of others!
Ditto on everything said previously. Ephedra diet products are the only thing that have ever worked for me to lose weight. I think the FDA has just used the misuse by a few people out there as an excuse to ban the product and pave the way for the drug companies (who they receive money from) to sell more of their dangerous diet drugs. It is frustrating to no longer be able to get a hold of the only thing that works for me.

I have used the metabolife 356 and lost 25 pounds in 3 months and loved my results. Now that it is ephedra free I can’t seem to loose anything. It just does not work without the ephedra. I had no problems with this diet pill. I think that people abuse the product and we are paying the price.

I went from 180 lbs. to 140 lbs. in three months using ephedra 2 years ago. I only took 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. Since it was banned I gained all the weight back even though I excercise regularly and watch my diet. I’m miserable and busting out of all my clothes. I used to feel more confident with my body and now I’m ashamed at the weight I’ve gained. I wish the FDA would lift the ban on products with ephedra.

I am in the same boat. I lost 30 pds and KEPT it off with Metabolife. I cheered for the NFL at that time, since the ban I have gained 40 pds. I wear sweats all the time . It is sad to say that this ban has done damage to alot of people, I dont understand though that tobacoo and cigaretts kill hundreds of more people, they are not banning that!

I put 40 back on and started sleeping all day again. With the Ephedra I’d stay awake all day cleaning , walking , riding my bike. I had a life. I hope to God it comes back. Think about it if you over take any pill it will kill you. People with hi-blood pressure shouldn’t take it.

I paid a mere 13.99 a bottle. It was awesome. I lost 50 lbs in 8 1/2 weeks, I had energy, I did not abuse it and suffered no side effects at all. I have the same problems as all of you. I was taking Shaperight diet pills with ephedra in them. I loved it!! I was wandering if anyone knows where or when stores will start selling ephedra again? Also wandering if buying any diet pills such as something with ephedra in them or the didrex pills are legit and not rip offs. Even though the ban has been lifted, it’s not as happy an event as it seems. It is only a PARTIAL lifting of the ban, allowing only certain types of pills to be manufactured. Unfortunately, what is being allowed is a very low dosage of ephedra pills. It will be 10mg or less..consider that the “old” stuff was 20mg!! That’s a huge difference. You now have to take more to attain the same results. And as of now, the only state I know of that has approved it’s return it Utah. So, even though it’s sort of back, the government has found a way to ruin it..

With the Ephedra Im was 5′5 and 114, despretly needed for my job as a dance instructor! I have to chime in. I ran across this website desperately looking for Hydroxycut WITH ephedra. Yes, I too have been trying to get products with ephedra. I tried to order from powerthin but they don’t ship to NY, they stated NY has different laws. So i ordered from fitnessone.com (they had a product called Xen supposedly it’s like xenadrine rfa-1 but the dosage of ephedra is 8 mg way less than the orginal of 20 mg. hopefully i get it, but they did say they are allowed to ship to NY, got to wait and see.
I ordered Hydroxadrine and it hasn’t arrived yet. I don’t know if I’ll take it when it gets here. I don’t want my heart pounding but I’m desperate to lose about 30 pounds and metabolife worked really well a few years back
