General Nutrition Centers, the largest U.S. specialty retailer of nutritional supplements, said it would discontinue the sale of all products that include ephedra, a weight-loss chemical that has been linked to serious side effects.
“We believe that ephedra-based products are safe when used as directed,” said GNC President and Chief Executive Michael Meyers. “Nonetheless, the current business climate dictates that we move in a different direction.”
The American Heart Association in April urged for a ban on all ephedra products.
“There is no such thing as a magic weight loss pill and anyone who takes these products looking for a quick fix is misleading themselves,” said Dr. Robert Bonow, Heart Association president, at the time.

Everybody listen up. I have found a combo that works. I was going crazy trying to find an ephedra based product. I finally found what works. First google search Vasopro Ephedrine. These tabs contain 25mg of pharmacutical grade ephedrine. This product is marketed as a decongestant. The herbal supplement was banned but not the drug form. But that is only half of what made the old ephedra mix work. You still need caffine and some other things. So go buy the ephedra free capsules of whatever you used to take ie. epherda free yellow swarm, or stacker2 or stacker3. just whatever suits you. Take 1 of the ephedra free capsules to every 2 ephedrine tabs. What you have is a combo just like the old ephera based products. It gives you energy and appitite control. Please someone confirm this by posting a follow up message for everbody. I ordered my Vasopro Ephedrine tabs from getbuf.com $12.80 for 48 tabs shipped. It took 1 solid week to get to me though. It works for me.
I am soo mad. I have been trying EVERYTHING to lose weight(25-35 #) I exercise an hour and a half a day and watch carbs and my weight wont come off! I am even taking stupid Zantrex 3 which doesnt work. 2 years ago I lost weight without even trying(only need to lose 5 then) with Metabolife 356, I think it might have even been metabolite? didnt that one still have ephedra too. I’ve always flirted with the idea of using ephedra. I have two friends who went from fat to bikini slim in a matter of months by using Stackers and now I’m trying to get my hands on some. Cigarettes and alchohol kill more people everyday than epehdra. The gov. should definitely lift this stupid ban.

I too have been looking for Stacker 3 with ephedra, since they banned it I gained about 20 lbs. I heard the FDA has 90 days to appeal it before we will see it anywhere to buy again.

I have purchased Stacker 2 with Ephedra from Netnutri.com They also have Stacker 3 and 6 other Ephedra products. HURRY…they may have to stop selling June 13th when the FDA is required to respond to the Utah ruling.
Bought powerthin just got it starting it tomarrow any body have any comments. I used to take RFA-1 looking for the same effect. By the way the only problem is the people who make these products don’t want to start again because they don’t wanna spend the money on making this product and then it gets banned again. So hopefully the band will stay lifted and powerthin works.

I’ve seen other listings on Ebay for the exact same stuff though! I’ve seen bottles of 60 capsules go for over $100 (!), so I’d love to put my mine up for sale too. started powerthin today and it works well feel like i felt 2 years ago. Not as strong as rfa-1 but take 2 at a time twice a day and it feels the same. Nice product. Buy the way did any body here what happen with then BAN today was the day they were supposed to make the ruling. any info?
As I was researching to see if any response from the FDA regarding the Utah ruling had been posted, I came across some interesting articles on the original April 14th Utah ruling. Both stated that the judge’s language was specific to products with less than 10 mg as a daily dose (as was the case with the Utah manaufacturer’s product in question). It also seems that the 3 states which also have state bans-CA, IL and NY-this ruling would have no effect at all. Most ephedra products have a per dose quantity of 20-25 mg of ephedra. My conclusion is that esentially no ephedra products are no legal to sell unless they have a 10 mg total per day dosage level (not per dose!). I did find it a little odd that I was able to have Stacker 2 sent to me. I have 8 bottles in my stash now. I also have 2 bottles of Powerthin, which I had to send to a friend in another state since I am in CA and Powerthin declined to ship to me, and she then sent it on to me. I feel lucky to have pills with 25mg of ephedra per capsule in my possesion based on what I just read.
Regarding Vasopro, doesn’t the decongestant ingredient (is it dmx?) dry you out when your taking it? I’ve seen that product and considered it but wonder about the anticholinergic effects of the other ingredient. I’m in the same boat as everyone else, gained back 40lbs, in spite of starving to death on 4 protein shakes a day (only) and exercising like crazy. I don’t think it has to do with self-control, or appetite suppression. From what I gather, you already naturally have ephedrine in your body, introduce high doses of a synthetic form and your body suppresses it’s own production, stop the synthetic form and your left with nothing. The herbal ephedra in the new products on the market are weaker, not just the dose but I believe it comes from a different part of the mau huang plant. Anyone with more info in this area? So basically we all need to stay on ephedra forever, I’d opt for that option considering the alternative…diabetes, heart disease, joint replacement. For six years I took metabolife 356, never more than 4 pills a day and usually only two (after the weight came off) and never had any adverse affects. I think the problems that led to the ban on ephedra have more to do with abuse of the drug or personal susceptibility to cardiac arrhythmias/heart failure, combining other drugs (steroids?) or what not. What do you think?

I totally agree with ephedra for weight loss. I was taking xenadrine rfa-1 and lost 30 pounds on it. Since then I have gained about 15 back and am looking for the product again. It was great and nothing out here in the ephedra-free world compares to it. Does anyone know where I can get this product ?

The person whom I get this from(original STACKER 2 WITH EPHEDRA), is one of my friend’s friend, don’t really know him. But I got about 3-4 months worth of original stacker 2. I paid $75 for 100 pills/bottle. He won’t tell me where he got them from, and doesn’t want too many to know he sells them either, so I’ll just tell him they’re for me. I just ordered some more, too.
I remember I only used to pay about $50-60 dollars per bottle, but don’t care, as long as I can still get them.

I am 22 here and have always had a weight problem. When I started working out with Hydroxycut with the ephedra. I lost 70 pounds in 6 months! Now after a year and a half I have gained 50 pounds back. THIS IS UNFAIR! Ephedra really helped me! And Im not a lazy ass. I’ve played softball for 9 years and NCAA ice hockey. Im a very active person. The Hydroxycut is the only thing that helped me. I just bought Lipodrene at a GNC store in NC and have lost about 4 lbs in just a few days. I was wanting to know if anyone who has used it or anything similar and then quit, gained back weight even if they ate a balanced diet and did some exercise? These fkn whores at the FDA are completely out of control. There are many hundreds of deaths each year associated with aspirin and acetaminophen. (By some estimates, aspirin- related deaths alone number more than 1,000 per year.) These pain killers are manufactured by many companies, but the major players are Bayer (the maker of Bayer Aspirin, of course), and Johnson & Johnson (the maker of Tylenol) – two of the largest drug companies in the world. They both have deep pockets to fuel very aggressive lobbying efforts in Washington.
It’s becoming unreal in this country exactly how powerful the FDA is. They can pass laws with regard to food or drugs that congress doesn’t even have to approve. Can someone please explain to me how 13 of the last 20 heads of the FDA have gone on to become CEO’s at pharmaceutical corporations? hmmm?

i was taking matabolite ephedra and i was keeping my weight off. Since they stopped putting ephedra in diet pills i have gained my wight back. i have trued several diet pills and none of them work. I feel like I am just throwing my money away. Why did they take the ephedra out, as long as you took them like you are suppose to then everything is alright. I took them for 3 yrs and nothing is wrong with me.
I completely agree with all the postings! Since i have stopped taking Xenadrine rfa-1 w/ ephedra i have slowly gain all my weight back. I too am very sad and feel as if i am being punnished for others misuse of the pills. Can we do anything to get it back? It sure feels like the vast majority of us ARE being punished…and for what? The misuse of this beneficial herb by a minute segment of the population. This has given all ephedra products a bad reputation.
The truth will prevail and I predict that Metabolife 356-like products will make a strong come-back shortly, and a legal one at that! In the mean time I am forced to spend hard-earned money “shopping around” for products that say they are similar to Metabolife 356. Lost total of 5 on South Beach, Weight Watchers and starvation.
I’m so disappointed. I have been using Trim-S for 2-3 days now, taken as directed, and I experienced NO EFFECTS whatsoever, good or bad! I now feel ripped-off and very angry.
If anyone else has experienced this with Trim-S, plz. post here for all to see. I just emailed the company and hope they will respond…I’ll keep you posted on this.

Hi Melanie W….Lipodrene works well for me. It helps to control my over-active appetite, too. I decided to try it for the first time yesterday while I waited for the Powerthin to arrive, which I just received today. I will give Powerthin a try tomorrow and keep you posted on what I think. The Lipodrene sat in my cabinet for a couple of weeks because I “assumed” the 25mg dose of natural ephedra in one tablet might be too much for me but it’s proving to do a great job with appetite and gives a mild energy boost too. There’s also Hoodia Extract (cactus), among other ingredients too numerous to mention here.
As for Trim-S, the company I ordered it from is working to remedy the problem by offering to send me a bottle of something similar that may be better for me. I like their willingness to meet their customers more than half-way. What a relief and I no longer feel angry or ripped-off since they’re being very reasonable about it. Take care everyone. Anyone else out there with experiences with Lipodrene &/or Powerthin, I’d love to hear what you think
Hello Graciemay, i too am taking powerthin i like it so far, although i am not loseing weight as fast as i was when i took metab-o-lite before ephedra went off the shelves….. powerthin is comparable though! tell me what you think of it!
