Firestone, a unit of Japan’s Bridgestone Corp., has agreed to settle a Texas class-action lawsuit over its August 2000 recall of 6.5 million allegedly defective Wilderness AT and ATX tires. The settlement does not affect similar suits pending in many other states. Details about the settlement will be publicly disclosed when the agreement is approved by a court, said Firestone.

Ford, also a defendant, could not be immediately reached for comment.
