U.S. District Judge Lee R. West has blocked the national “do not call” list that would allow consumers to stop unwanted telemarketing calls, ruling the Federal Trade Commission overstepped its authority.
Consumers have submitted more than 50 million phone numbers to the FTC registry. The national program was scheduled to begin Oct 1.
The FTC has filed a motion for a stay pending appeal of the court ruling. A freeze of the ruling would allow the list to take effect and enforcement to begin as scheduled.
“This decision is clearly incorrect,” FTC Chairman Timothy J. Muris said in a statement. “We will seek every recourse to give American consumers a choice to stop unwanted telemarketing calls.”
“There will be fireworks,” Rep. W.J. “Billy” Tauzin (R-La.), chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said in a telephone interview. “I predict the House will pass it and the Senate likewise and it will be on the president’s desk” by tonight.

Hates Telemarketers // Oct 13, 2003 at 11:37 am
That’s okay let them call me then I will yell at them and use profanities that the people have never heard before. Telemarketers suck, if I wanted to buy something I would go to the store. Telemarketers are enough to drive the people tetering on the edge of insanity right over the edge…

It sounds to me like (Hates tellemarketers) is a very unstable person. If a tellephone call could drive anyone over the edge, they should seek help before a reel problem comes along and makes them become postal, but i dont think this is your problem, I just think you are an IDIOT who could not tell the difference between tellemarketer and a fence post, You are just another moron with nothing better to worry about.
