Canada Approves P2P Music Downloading, Prohibits Uploading

Canadians may legally download copyright music from the Internet, but not upload it, the Canadian copyright board ruled. A person may legally record music for personal use, but is prohibited to sell, rent or distribute such recording, the board said.

“It does not matter whether the source of the recording is a pre-owned track, a borrowed CD or a track downloaded from the Internet, the board said. The combination of the latter two rules means that recording a CD for a friend is illegal, but handing the CD to the same friend and letting them make a copy for their own use is legal,” reported InfoWorld.

this makes no sense, if you can download, but nobody can put them there, then how is P2P supposed to work?
