Wells Fargo last week agreed to pay $6.7 million to settle a class action lawsuit that accused the bank of illegally selling customers’ personal financial data to telemarketers.

As part of the settlement, Wells Fargo will pay $3.2 million to 81 charities and provide $3.5 million worth of online services to customers. Current and former Wells Fargo customers who had checking or savings accounts between September 1995 and July 2001 will be eligible for free online bill paying service for one month, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Wells Fargo admitted to no wrongdoing as part of the settlement.

I do bill pay with wells fargo. My payment was due to my credit card on the 15th with 5 extra grace days. I made my payment and it was immediately taken from my account. Today, feb 22, I get a call from my cc company saying the payment is late, they still haven’t received the payment. Then where is the money, it’s not in my account? Is this legal??

I have been thru a nitemare due to Wells Fargo. Two months after I deposited $74000.00 in wELLS ACCOUNTS, i RUSHED TO BANK WHEN I NOTICED THOUSANDS MISSING FROM SAVINGS. BANKER CLOSED ACCOUNT, OPENED A NEW ACCOUNT, never canceled MY ATM CARD . SEVEN MONTHS LATER I DISCOVER CARD STILL OPEN WITH UNAUTHORIZED WITHDRAWALS. NEVER RECEIVED LOST MONEY FROM FIRST TWO MONTHS. NO FREEZE OR FLAG FILED AT ALL. WHAT TO DO?

I have been having a recurrig problem with Wells..I deposit a check from my company which is at another banking institution in my personal acount, Wells decides that the check may not clear, and then places a 10 day hold on the check, I receive a notice 4 or 5 days later of hold, meantime I may have written checks against the amount, not knowing they have placed the hold, for which they then hit up my overdraft protection account, plus charges. The check will then clear the day after deposit, but the funds will not be released for 10 days!! How can this be legal??
