I just(last week)lost my mother because of Cipro. She got a rare and extremely bad case of C. Diff. from it causing everything to fail. It only took one week. It was too horrible to say more. She only took 3 Cipro for a UTI a month before.

I had a 10 day prescription of Cipro in July 05. I was in perfect health for 2 weeks and then came down with a fever and have been suffering with wrist, elbow, knee and ankle pain ever since. Thanks Cipro.

My mother was given Cipro in the emergency room August 8 for a UTI. Symptoms worsened and on August 13 she returned to ER and found her kidneys had failed, blamed on Cipro. She was admitted to the hospital for treatment. As of August 20 she is still semi-conscious and prognosis uncertain. We learned a family friend

experienced the same thing, nearly died.

On May 23, 2001 our 38 year old daughter was given Cipro by her Physician for an upper respiratory infection. Two days after starting the Cipro she died quite suddenly and unexpectedly -- the cause of death was "Circulatory System Collapse due to Myocardial Infarction. Our daughter was given NO information concerning possible side effects of Cipro, nor was sne told individuals with Kidney Disease should not take Cipro. Our daughter had only one functioning kidney, and it only functioned at about 40 - 50%. We will always believe the Cipro caused her sudden death. We have written to both the FDA and Congress asking that action be taken to remove this dangerous drug from the market.

WAS PUT ON LEVAQUIN 500 MGS FOR 30 DAYS, THEN 14 DAYS OF IV AND ANOTHER 14 Days of 750 mg for acinetobactrial skin infection. Severe strain and pain in right shoulder came on after first injection in right arm...I protested second in jection in right arm but the IV team member said he couldn't find small viens as easily. The pain was very severe after that IV. I have been seeing a chiropractor since with some comfort but still can't lift my arm comfortably afte a month. The dermatologist had treated me over 3 years and never did a culture for MRSA...just did biopsies of new lesions which she then treated with whatever I suggested. She asked me to get another doctor and when I told her I had history with her and felt she should try to find out what the Tx was for MRSA types, she became very aloof and set up the Levaquin & IV's. I called her to let her know I had completed all the TX and she has never retrurned my call, 4 weeks now. The skin condition is somewhat improved but far from cured. Pain is so severe it is life altering and I am unable to perform household jobs I have always done. driving (steering, shifting) is very painful, computer mouse action painful.

I was prescribed cipro and levaquin in which I believe has harmed my mental and physical health. I now have FUO (fever of unexplained origin) in which four doctors and one ER doctor have not been able to find the source. I have back pain and muscle spasms that were not brought on by any activity. Bouts of uncontrollable, extreme anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and gripping fear for what seems to be no reason occur frequently I WAS a perfectly healthy, active woman who until I took cipro and levaquin and had no health problems whatsoever. And the rare instance when I did get sick, the cause was found and the treatment always worked. I'm told my white blood cell count is elevated but no sign of infection or arthritis can be found and sed rate blood work indicates no malignancies or other problems. I did not have constant high blood pressure until now. All this, and I have only been off the offending meds for a few days. I understand that more health problems could show up long after discontinuation of the drugs.

Doctors at University Hospital in Los Angeles seem to be pretty good. The side effects seem to go hand in hand. It's just a matter of which is the greater good. Good luck to you all and God Bless you.

I had cipro iv during a surgery procedure and 500 mg pills afterwards for 2 weeks since then I have had tremendous pain in legs, toes, back, and hips. Have a weakened immune system and need a doctor who understands how to treat quinoline effects. If you know of one in California please contact me. It has been almost 2 years and I am in constant pain. Can not get a doctor to give me a diagnoses and I have had to quit work, and am homebound. any info appreciated. I never had these symptoms until after quinoline.
