Military contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. agreed Tuesday to pay $62 million to settle a 16-year-old whistleblower lawsuit, alleging that Northrop in the 1980s overcharged the government on several defense programs.
The lawsuit, Rex Robinson v. Northrop Grumman Corporation, was initially filed by four whistleblowers (Northrop employees) and the Justice Department under the qui tam provisions of the civil False Claims Act.
Northrop admitted to no wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
Under qui tam law, the whistleblowers may share in part of the recovery.
