I am also a vicitm of Vioxx. I took Vioxx under doctors orders for 18 months and suffered a TIA (stroke). Because of the law in Michigan I am told that I have no legal recourse. The law in Michigan grants immunity to pharmaceuticals that have FDA approval. With all the attention given to the FDA and its advisory committees and the testimonies given by researchers and scientist where is the transparency? Sen.C.Grassley of Iowa during a public hearing stated"One of my concern's is that the FDA has a relationship with drug companies that is to cozy. The exact opposite as it should be." As a citizen of Michigan how can I make this situation known? I have written my congressman and I have written the newspaper here in Grand Rapids. My only positive response was from Rep. Dianne Byrum. She informed me that she has sponsored a House Bill 4773 that would repeal the 1996 law. But I haven't heard from anyone else.
