Dozens of claims filed with the $4.75 billion fen phen settlement trust do not have to be paid because they were “medically unreasonable,” said U.S. District Court Judge Harvey Bartle. Hundreds of additional claims will be reviewed in effort to prevent the settlement fund from running out of money, according to the ruling by Judge Bartle.
At issue was whether some of the 17,00 claims filed with the trust fund list actual heart damage or were wrongfully submitted by lawyers seeking a larger slice of the settlement.

How can one man setting on a bench make such a major decision?!! I would love to have his e-mail address. My sister, a mother & grand-mother is ill because of taking what she thought would help her to loose weight & live a long healthy life. Today she can hardly walk from her car to the grocery store entry, can’t play with her new grandbabies, and can’t afford the doctor bills & meds to help her get by. My sis is a young woman only 44 years old. Now not only does she have the heart problems from the Phen Fen she has the stress of no money to buy meds,go to the doctors, or have surger if that should happen. Lord forbid should she have a heart attack, what then. The strain of medicare, medicaid, social security disability on our system for people with these problems that the drug companies should be paying for could be devastating for our system. Do people know all the benefits the drug reps get from these companies. I know!! Believe me the benefits they get could be greatly reduced & take care of these people. PLEASE SEND ME HIS E-MAIL & if you know anything else to help get my sister her due for this I would appriciate the info.

I would like to know if anyone has more info as to what if anything can be done concerning what is going on with the trust running out of money. The company certainly is not!

Why was the company allowed to change their name??? And they are still making lots of money on other drugs. I took Phen Fen and while waiting on something to get paid, don’t hold your breath. I still am paying Wyeth for another drug I am having to take imagine that.

this whole thing is such a scam. after soliciting my business and instilling fear in me I finally broke down and had the echo done in 2000 (I was assured that it would not cost me anything). Now the company that did the echo has raised the bill from $1,500 to $2,800 which I cannot afford to pay. They have filed a suit in court and continue to tack on late fees and send me bills. Can someone send me information on the “tossed claims”?
