Pfizer Files Lawsuit to Block Sales of Storvas

Pfizer, the world’s biggest drugs company, said it has filed a lawsuit against the operator of look4generics.com, an Internet distributor of generic drugs, for selling an “unapproved copy” of the cholesterol drug Lipitor.
The Lipitor copy is marketed as Storvas. The site claims the copy is made by Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals, India’s largest pharmaceutical company.

Pfizer Agrees to Pay $49M to Settle Lipitor Charges

WASHINGTON — Pfizer Inc. has agreed to pay $49 million to settle charges that subsidiary Parke-Davis Labs defrauded Medicaid by overcharging for Lipitor, the Justice Department said. Lipitor is a cholesterol-lowering drug and was the world’s top-selling drug in 2001 with sales of $6.45 billion.
